Starkey Hearing Foundation Attracts Celebs From Around the World while Delta Zeta named Honorable Mention

Not many events can bring together children, celebrities, and sororities- except maybe a good cause. The Starkey hearing Foundation is known for bringing people together to make a change in the world. Last year at the 2015 Starkey Gala Katy Perry performed. In 2014 John Legend and Elton John performed. These are musicians that can sell out a stadium for $2 million in one night, but choose to perform at Starkey free of charge. The reason why these icons perform at the Starkey Gala? They care. They care about helping the rest of the world have the gift of something that they were born with: the gift of hearing.
The Starkey hearing foundation is dedicated to helping the world have the gift of hearing. They travel around the world in hopes of giving hearing aids to those who cannot afford them. They have pledged to give out at least 100,000 hearing aids per year. Last year they gave out 160,000. In all they have given out 1.6 million hearing aids in over 100 countries. All of these heaing aids are given to those who are not fortunate enough to afford them completely free.

In 2006 Starkey partnered with the Delta Zeta sorority. Delta Zeta alone has pledged to donate $5 million to Starkey in the next five years. Last year they were named an Honorable mention at the Gala. Kylie Iasillo, a member of Delta Zeta at the University of Tampa got to work very closely with Starkey by bringing build a bears to hospitals where children were receiving their very first hearing aid. She says the experience was “really eye opening and it was cool to see what we are working so hard for. I like seeing all of our hard work from fundraisers pay off”.
